Herbicide Injury on Strawberry

Herbicide Injury on Strawberry

Return to Abiotic Disorders

Herbicide injury to fruit occurs when chemicals drift or are applied at the wrong time of year. Growth regulator herbicides, such as 2,4-D, may result in fruit malformation, especially when applied in late spring or fall.

Management:

  • Apply herbicides according to the label (early in spring or immediately after the last harvest).
  • Avoid spray drift by applying products only on calm days and using shielded sprayers.
