Magnesium Deficiency of Peach

Return to Abiotic Disorders

Magnesium deficiency symptoms typically appear as light green blotches between veins of older leaves, progressing toward leaf margins. Blotches become light yellow and then golden yellow in color.

Management:

  • Monitor tree magnesium levels through foliar analysis.
  • Apply dolomitic lime to soil if a pH increase is needed.
  • Apply magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt) to foliage and/or soil, or apply magnesium chelate or magnesium oxide to foliage.
  • Avoid high potassium levels, which inhibit magnesium uptake, leading to deficiency.
