Yellow foxtail (Setaria pumila, previously S. glauca) is a summer annual that is easily recognized by its yellow-tan bristly seedheads. These yellow seedheads distinguish it from green foxtail and giant foxtail; the latter have green seedheads. Yellow foxtail is tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions. A prolific seed producer, it can be difficult to control if allowed to set seed. Populations of this species resistant to ALS-herbicides and photosystem II-Inhibitors have been reported in the United States.

Management:
- Mow before seed set.
- Cultivation is difficult because of the extensive, fibrous root system.
- Apply pre-emergent herbicides or herbicides selective for grasses.
